  • The 'Dhawan-1,' India's first privately developed completely cryogenic rocket engine, was successfully tested at the Solar Industries test facility in Hyderabad city.
  • The cryogenic rocket engine was built and tested at the Solar Industries propulsion test facility in Nagpur by Skyroot Aerospace of Hyderabad.
  • The rocket engine is powered by two high-performance rocket propellants: liquid natural gas (LNG) and liquid oxygen (LoX).
  • This is the first time that a private company in India has successfully designed, developed, and tested a full solid propulsion rocket stage.
  • Cryogenic engines are rocket propulsion systems that use cryogenic propellants to achieve high efficiency (less than -150 degrees Celsius).
