18-year-old Indian archer Sheetal Devi made history by winning the gold medal in the Women’s Compound Individual category at the 2025 World Para Archery Championship in Gwangju, South Korea. Born without arms, Sheetal shoots using her feet and chin and in a stunning final, defeated Turkey’s World No.1 Öznur Cüre Girdi 146-143. Alongside her individual triumph, Sheetal also won bronze in the Mixed Team event with Toman Kumar and silver in the Women’s Team event with Sarita. Hailing from Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir, Sheetal’s achievement is a remarkable inspiration for para-athletes worldwide, proving that determination can overcome any challenge.
