A distinguished writer and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor was awarded France's highest civilian honour, "Chevalier de la legion d'Honneur" during a ceremony held at the French Embassy.
The prestigious honour was bestowed upon Tharoor by French Senate President Gérard Lärcher in honour of his significant contribution to literature and public service.
Tharoor's outstanding achievements as a prolific writer, coupled with his tenure as a Member of Parliament representing Thiruvananthapuram for the Congress Party, earned him this esteemed recognition from the French government.
