Indian archer Sharvari Somnath Shende secured the women’s U18 individual recurve gold medal at the 2025 World Youth Archery Championships in Winnipeg, Canada. The 16-year-old defeated South Korea’s Kim Yewon 6-5 in a thrilling final that went into a shoot-off. Leading 4-1 early on, Shende was challenged by Kim who levelled the match. In the deciding arrow, Kim scored 9, but Shende sealed victory with a perfect 10. She became the second Indian woman to strike gold at the event, following Chikitha Taniparthi’s U21 compound individual win against Korea’s Yerin Park.
