Satish Golcha, currently Director General of Prisons, has been appointed Commissioner of Police, Delhi, succeeding interim chief Shashi Bhushan Kumar Singh, who had been holding charge since Sanjay Arora’s retirement on August 1. Golcha, who took over Delhi’s prisons department in May 2024, managed Tihar, Mandoli, and Rohini jails, tackling issues such as gang rivalries, smuggling of mobile phones, and violent incidents including the murders of gangsters Prince Teotia and Sunil Tajpuria. His appointment comes at a time when the capital faces challenges of law and order and prison-linked crimes.
