Salman Rushdie published his new novel “Victory City”, an “epic tale” of a 14th-century woman who defies a patriarchal world to rule a city.
It has been published nearly six months after he was brutally attacked with a knife in New York.
It is published by Penguin Random House as a translation of a mythological epic originally written in Sanskrit.
The book is about the Vijayanagara Empire, which dominated the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent in the 14th century.
