Sahitya Akademi announced its awards for literary works in 23 languages on Thursday.
Maya Kharangate’s 2016 novel ‘Amrutvel’ has won the Sahitya Akademi Award in Konkani.
The awards were also given to five other novels, seven poetry books, two short stories, three plays, two essays of literary criticism, a collection of articles, a literary history and an autobiographical essay.
Writer M. Rajendran from Tamil Nadu has received this award for his novel ‘Kala Pani’.
The awardee will be presented with a cash prize of one lakh rupees and a copper Shield.
The award has been given by the central government for the best literature of every year.
