  • Sahitya Akademi announced its awards for literary works in 23 languages on Thursday.
  • Maya Kharangate’s 2016 novel ‘Amrutvel’ has won the Sahitya Akademi Award in Konkani.
  • The awards were also given to five other novels, seven poetry books, two short stories, three plays, two essays of literary criticism, a collection of articles, a literary history and an autobiographical essay.
  • Writer M. Rajendran from Tamil Nadu has received this award for his novel ‘Kala Pani’. 
  • The awardee will be presented with a cash prize of one lakh rupees and a copper Shield.
  • The award has been given by the central government for the best literature of every year.
