  • The fourth phase of Sagar Parikrama began on March 18 covering three coastal districts of Karnataka.
  • According to the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, the fourth phase of the Sagar Parikrama program took place from March 18-19.
  • It covered three districts Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts of Karnataka.
  • Sagar Parikrama is an evolutionary journey envisaged in the sea across the coastal belt demonstrating solidarity with all fisherfolk, fish farmers and concerned stakeholder’s as a spirit of 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav saluting our great freedom fighters, sailors, and fishers.
  • Sagar Parikrama Phase-I was started on March 5, 2022 from Mandvi, Gujarat to Okha-Dwarka, and concluded at Porbandar on 6 March covering 3 locations.
  • Sagar Parikrama Phase-II was held on September 23-25 2022 and covered seven locations. 
  • Sagar Parikrama Phase-III was held on February 18-21 2022 and covered coastal districts of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
  • India contributes 8% of the global share of fish production and is ranked 3rd largest fish producer in the world.
