The Election Commission of India has decided to recognize cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as the national symbol of the country.
The Election Commission hopes that Tendulkar's huge influence among young Indians will inspire more to show up at the polls, particularly for the 2024 general elections.
Last year, actor Pankaj Tripathi was also named a 'National Icon'.
Other big names like MS Dhoni, Aamir Khan, and Mary Kom have previously been chosen for this honor during the 2019 elections.
