Russia has expelled a British diplomat, accusing them of operating as an undercover spy, further straining already tense relations between Moscow and London.
The move follows a pattern of reciprocal diplomatic expulsions amid long-standing disputes, including those linked to the Salisbury poisoning and broader geopolitical frictions. Both countries have repeatedly accused each other of espionage and cyberattacks, resulting in sanctions and intelligence countermeasures.
UK–Russia relations are expected to remain strained, marked by mutual distrust, cyber conflicts and ongoing diplomatic tensions.
