RRR's Naatu Naatu wins best original song award in Oscars 2023

Filmmaker S S Rajamouli's period action blockbuster RRR charted history after ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Academy Award in the Best Original Song category.
It had to beat the other nominees in the category which included Applause (Tell It Like a Woman), Hold My Hand (Top Gun Maverick), Lift Me Up (Black Pather Wakanda Forever), and This is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once).
The blockbuster track won Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards, beating heavyweights like Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
India won a second Oscar for The Elephant Whisperers which won in the Best Documentary Short film category.
The documentary, which tells the story of a couple who care for an injured baby elephant after it gets separated from its herd, is the first Indian production to bag a win in the category.
The ‘Naatu Naatu’ song already made history in January when it won a Golden Globe for the best original song - a first for India. The same month, it also won the Critics' Choice award for the best song.
Deepika Padukone attended as a presenter, Deepika is the third Indian to present at the Oscasr after Persis Khambatta and Priyanka Chopra.
The star of the film Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress, making history as the first Asian winner of the award.
Everything Everywhere All At Once also won Best Picture, Best Director for the Daniels and Best Film Editing.
