  • Filmmaker S S Rajamouli's period action blockbuster RRR charted history after ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Academy Award in the Best Original Song category. 
  • It had to beat the other nominees in the category which included Applause (Tell It Like a Woman), Hold My Hand (Top Gun Maverick), Lift Me Up (Black Pather Wakanda Forever), and This is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once).
  • The blockbuster track won Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards, beating heavyweights like Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
  • India won a second Oscar for The Elephant Whisperers which won in the Best Documentary Short film category.
  • The documentary, which tells the story of a couple who care for an injured baby elephant after it gets separated from its herd, is the first Indian production to bag a win in the category.
  • The ‘Naatu Naatu’ song already made history in January when it won a Golden Globe for the best original song - a first for India. The same month, it also won the Critics' Choice award for the best song.
  • Deepika Padukone attended as a presenter, Deepika is the third Indian to present at the Oscasr after Persis Khambatta and Priyanka Chopra.
  • The star of the film Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress, making history as the first Asian winner of the award.
  • Everything Everywhere All At Once also won Best Picture, Best Director for the Daniels and Best Film Editing.
