  • Reliance Industries will commence construction in June on India’s first Multimodal Logistics Park at Mappedu near Chennai, valued at Rs 1,424 crore.
  • Spanning 184.27 acres in Tiruvallur district, this project, initially conceptualized 12 years ago, aims to deliver efficient logistics services. Strategically located 52 km from Chennai Port, 80 km from Ennore Port, and 87 km from Kattupalli Port, it is set to become a central logistics hub in southern India, handling an estimated 7.17 million tonnes of cargo over 45 years.
  • Connectivity and Industrial Impact: The park’s success hinges on ensuring rail connectivity from Mappedu to nearby ports.
  • Positioned near the Sriperumbudur-Oragadam industrial belt and the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road, it is also close to major automobile and electronics manufacturing clusters.
  • This multimodal logistics park aims to enhance cargo aggregation, distribution, intermodal transfer, sorting, and repacking, thereby revolutionizing the logistics landscape of the southern region.
