World Food Day is celebrated every year on 16 October to save the world from malnutrition and starvation.
Through Food Day, human development focuses on issues related to unemployment, poverty and food security.
On this day, many types of food related programs are organized to create awareness at various places.
This day commemorates the establishment of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
FAO was established on October 16, 1945.
This year the theme of World Food Day has been 'Water is life, water is food, leave no one behind'.
FAO had announced to celebrate this day in the year 1979.
