In October, 2023, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry has amended the Aircraft Rules 1937 to increase the validity of airline pilots' licenses to 10 years.
Earlier this validity was for 5 years.
This increased validity will apply to both airline transport pilots and commercial pilots.
Earlier in the year 2014, the validity of pilots' license was increased from 2 years to 5 years.
Apart from this, now the Central Government can take action against the person displaying 'artificial lights' like flash lights, kite lights and laser lights around the airport.
This limit for artificial lights was up to 5 km from the airport.
Now this limit has been increased to five nautical miles i.e. 9.2 km.
Artificial lights can cause airplanes to stray from the airport.
