  • In October, 2023, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry has amended the Aircraft Rules 1937 to increase the validity of airline pilots' licenses to 10 years.
  • Earlier this validity was for 5 years.
  • This increased validity will apply to both airline transport pilots and commercial pilots.
  • Earlier in the year 2014, the validity of pilots' license was increased from 2 years to 5 years.
  • Apart from this, now the Central Government can take action against the person displaying 'artificial lights' like flash lights, kite lights and laser lights around the airport.
  • This limit for artificial lights was up to 5 km from the airport.
  • Now this limit has been increased to five nautical miles i.e. 9.2 km.
  • Artificial lights can cause airplanes to stray from the airport.
