Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is a measure taken to control pollution.
Recently the third phase of GRAP has been implemented in Delhi.
This phase has been implemented in the month of November due to increasing excessive pollution in Delhi.
The third phase of GRAP has been implemented by the Central Government.
This will be applicable in Delhi as well as NCR region.
Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached around 450 in November, 2023.
In this phase, it is mandatory to implement all emergency measures including ban on polluting trucks, commercial vehicles and all types of construction work.
These measures are implemented in the final phase of GRAP.
Based on the Air Quality Index (AQI), GRAP is divided into four phases and steps are taken accordingly.
First stage – poor – AQI 201 to 300
Second stage – Very bad – AQI 301 to 400
Third stage – Severe – AQI 401 to 450
Fourth stage – Very serious – AQI more than 450.
In the third phase of GRAP, there is a complete ban on construction and demolition works except essential government projects, mining and stone breaking.
