In November 2023, the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was held in Switzerland.
This meeting was held in Geneva.
This was the 77th meeting of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupendra Yadav represented India in this meeting.
India is a participant in this convention since 1976.
The meeting was chaired by Naima Aziz of the United States of America.
CITES came into force in July 1975.
Its objective is to ensure that the existence of wild animals and plants is not threatened due to international trade.
The CITES Secretariat is administered by the United Nations Environment Program and is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
