In November, 2023, Kesar of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will be transferred to G.I. tag has been provided.
This G.I. TAG provided by the Geographical Indications Registry.
Saffron of Kishtwar in Kashmir is known as G.I. tag has been given.
Kishtwar saffron brand was given G.I. for the first time. Got the tag.
This spice is grown in parts of Kashmir as well as Kishtwar region of Jammu.
The famous most expensive crop of saffron, known as 'Kumkum', is also a major cash crop in Kishtwar, the isolated hill district of Jammu.
The cultivation of saffron is a cultural heritage that represents freshness and purity.
The saffron production area of Kishtwar is locally called 'Mandal'.
