The National Olympic Committee of Russia was suspended because it had decided to bring under its control regional sports organizations that were under Ukraine's NOC.
Russia has violated the Olympic Charter by recognizing the regional Olympic councils in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia.
These areas used to be a part of Ukraine but Russia attacked Ukraine and recognized these areas and declared them independent.
