'Uttarlai Air Force Station' is located in Barmer, Rajasthan.
The Indian Air Force has retired one squadron of MiG-21 from this station.
The squadron of MiG-21 aircraft at 'Uttarlai Air Force Station' was known as the 'Orioles'.
MiG-21 aircraft have been replaced by Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter aircraft.
After this, there are now 2 more squadrons of MiG-21 left in the Indian Air Force.
The Indian Air Force aims to phase out all MiG-21 aircraft from the fleet by 2025.
In the year 1963, during the time of the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the first supersonic fighter aircraft MiG-21 was inducted into the Indian Air Force.
Since its induction, the MiG-21 has participated in all major conflicts including the India-Pakistan wars of 1965, 1971 and the Kargil conflict of 1999.
