In October 2023, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav flagged off the Vistadome train service in Jammu and Kashmir.
This is the first Vistadome train service of Jammu and Kashmir.
This train was flagged off from Srinagar Railway Station.
This train will run from Budgam to Banihal in a distance of 90 km.
The announcement of starting the Vistadome train service of Jammu and Kashmir was made in the year 2017.
In its second phase it will be extended from Banihal to Baramulla.
Vistadome means dome shaped train.
From this, picturesque landscapes can be seen.
Vistadome coaches are mostly installed to provide panoramic views of the hilly areas.
Such trains are equipped with modern facilities.
