The Election Commission of India has appointed actor Rajkumar Rao as the National Icon in October, 2023.
National icons work to make voters aware about voting.
The effort of the national icon is to increase voter turnout by creating voter awareness.
Rajkumar Rao will motivate voters to vote in the upcoming assembly elections of 5 states.
In August this year, former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was made its national icon.
The 5 states where assembly elections are to be held are – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.
The results of the assembly elections of all these states will be declared simultaneously on December 3.
