  • The Union Cabinet has extended the tenure of fast track special courts in November, 2023.
  • The duration of these courts has been extended for 3 years.
  • These courts will now continue till March 31, 2026.
  • In this, Rs 1207 crore will come in the share of the Central Government and Rs 744 crore will come in the share of the states.
  • The Central Government's share in this scheme will be financed from the Nirbhaya Fund.
  • Fast track special courts were initially launched in October 2019 for a period of one year.
  • The scheme was extended for an additional two years till March 31, 2023.
