Imphal is a stealth guided missile destroyer.
Its code name is 12706.
This warship has been unveiled recently.
It was unveiled in New Delhi.
Imphal was unveiled by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Manipur Chief Minister N. Done by Viren Singh.
The design on the top of the ship depicts 'Kangla Palace' on the left and 'Kangla-sa' on the right.
Kangla Palace is an important historical and archaeological site of Manipur.
This palace used to be the residence of the Meitei kings of Manipur in ancient times.
'Kangla-Sa' is also the state symbol of Manipur.
Imphal has been constructed under Project 15 (B).
This is the third warship built under Project 15 (B).
It is built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited.
It has a displacement capacity of 7,400 tonnes and a length of 164 metres.
The destroyer is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and systems, including surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship missiles and torpedoes.
As part of the trials, the ship recently successfully test fired an extended range BrahMos missile.
