  • This free visa scheme will remain in force till March 31, 2024.
  • After that this plan will be reconsidered.
  • Apart from India, Sri Lanka has also offered free tourist visa to 6 other countries.
  • The move aims to revive Sri Lanka's tourism industry.
  • It has been taken to target five million arrivals by 2026.
  • Before the Corona pandemic, tourism was the third largest source of foreign exchange inflow into Sri Lanka.
