A new variety of paddy Pusa – 2099 has been developed in November, 2023.
This new variety has been developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
It is an early maturing Japonica rice variety.
It ripens in a short period of 120-125 days while maintaining comparable yields.
Pusa-2090 is an improved version of Pusa-44.
It has been developed mainly for the farmers of Punjab and Haryana.
This can provide relief from the problem of stubble burning.
The new variety of paddy will give farmers about 30 days to prepare their fields for the next crop.
With this, there will be no need to burn stubble in the field.
