'Nilwande Dam' is located in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
This dam is built on the Pravara River, a tributary of the Godavari River.
Recently this dam has been dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister.
Nilwande Dam consists of two linked gravity dams that use roller-compacted concrete.
This type of roller-compacted concrete dam has been built for the first time in India.
The Upper Nilwande Dam is 15 meters tall and the Lower Nilwande Dam is 86 meters tall.
The construction of this dam started in the year 1993.
It was completed in the year 2011 but the canals coming out of it have only now been constructed.
An 85 km long canal has been taken out from this dam.
