  • Its first medical college has been established in the north-eastern state of Nagaland in October, 2023.
  • This medical college has been established in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland.
  • This medical college was unveiled by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
  • This college has been named 'Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research'.
  • There are 100 seats in the medical college of which 85 are earmarked for Nagaland and 15 for other states.
  • Despite being the second oldest state in the Northeast after Assam, Nagaland was the only state in the region that did not have any medical colleges.
