  • Mitra Shakti joint military exercise is conducted between India and Sri Lanka.
  • In the year 2023, it is being organized in Pune Military Cantonment.
  • This exercise will continue till November 29.
  • This is the 9th edition of Mitra Shakti joint military exercise.
  • The Indian contingent is being represented primarily by 120 soldiers of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment.
  • The Sri Lankan side is being represented by soldiers of 53 Infantry Division.
  • The objective of the exercise is to jointly rehearse sub-conventional operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
  • The scope of the exercise includes coordination of joint responses during counter-terrorism operations.
  • Both sides will practice tactical operations like raids, search and destroy missions, heliborne operations etc.
