Manohar Singh Gill, former Chief Election Commissioner of the country, passed away in October 2023.
Manohar Singh Gill was the Chief Election Commissioner of the country from December 1996 to June 2001.
He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in the year 2000 for exceptional and distinguished services as a civil servant.
He was made the Union Sports Minister in the Union Cabinet of Congress in the year 2008.
Apart from this he also held the post of Minister of Statistics and Program Implementation.
