  • Late billionaire investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was posthumously awarded the Padma Shri award for his contributions in the field of trade and industry.
  • The award was presented in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital. Family members of the late investor attended the ceremony and his wife Rekha Jhunjunwala received the award from President Droupadi Murmu.
  • Often called 'India's own Warren Buffet', Rakesh Jhunjhunwala passed away on August 14, 2022.
  • He was run a privately-owned stock trading firm called RARE Enterprises and was also the owner of India’s newest airline Akasa Air.
  • Areez Khambatta, founder of the soft drink brand Rasna, will also be receiving the award posthumously in the trade and industry category.
  • Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group will also be receiving the Padma Bhushan award.
  • Kapil Kapoor- Delhi based professor, Kamlesh D. Patel spiritual leader and singer Suman Kalyanpur were also conferred the Padma Bhushan.
  • Jodhaiya Bai Baiga- an artist of Baiga painting, Usha Barle- performer of Pandwani and Panthi art forms of Chhattisgarh and Raman Cheruvayal- a tribal farmer from Kerala who is known for his contribution to sustainable agriculture and preservation of biodiversity were conferred with the Padma Shri.
  • Bhanubhai Chunilal Chitara, who has preserved and promoted the traditional Mata Ni Pachedi craft of Gujarat, and Sankurathri Chandrasekhar, a managing trustee of Sankurathri Foundation which has educated a large number of rural students and provided eye care to over 37 lakh people and performed over three lakh surgeries, were also awarded the Padma Shri.
