Rajit Punhani, a 1991-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, has taken charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). He previously served as Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Secretary of the Rajya Sabha, and CEO of Sansad TV. During his tenure in various roles, he was instrumental in launching a pension and insurance scheme for over 450 million unorganized workers, executing the world’s largest maternal messaging program, and contributing to the formulation of India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework.
