The Quad’s Malabar naval exercise 2025 has commenced off Guam in the western Pacific, involving India, the US, Japan, and Australia. India is represented by the guided-missile stealth frigate INS Sahyadri, a Shivalik-class warship built indigenously. The exercise includes harbour and sea phases, covering operational planning, communication alignment, anti-submarine drills, gunnery exercises, and naval aviation operations. Malabar 2025 strengthens interoperability, coordination, and regional maritime security, reflecting India’s growing blue-water capabilities and commitment to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.
