  • Punjab is going to start the census of Indus river dolphins.
  • Indus river dolphins are scientifically called Platanista gangetica minor.
  • It is a freshwater dolphin, which is found in the Beas River.
  • Under a project of the central government, the census will start in winter. However, the Wildlife Conservation Wing of Punjab will go a step ahead and protect not only the dolphins but their natural habitat as well.
