The Government of Punjab has launched the ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme to provide nutritional support to nearly 40 lakh economically weaker families. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the initiative in Chandigarh ahead of the state’s Budget Session (March 6–16, 2026).
Under the scheme, blue card holder families will receive free food kits for three months at a time. In the first phase (April–June 2026), each family will get 2 kg chana dal, 2 kg sugar, 1 kg iodized salt, 200 grams turmeric powder and 1 litre mustard oil.
The scheme aims to address nutritional gaps, especially among children, reduce malnutrition and strengthen household food security. The government has also assured regular quality checks to ensure proper standards in distribution.
