The Punjab Cabinet has approved the 'Punjab Tissue Culture Based Seed Potato Rules-2021' in order to establish Punjab as a standard potato seed centre.
Punjab has become the first state in the country to offer tissue culture-based certification, which will lead to the development of the Jalandhar-Kapurthala belt as a potato export hub.
The Cabinet also agreed to amend the 'Punjab Fruit Nursery Act-1961' in order to introduce the 'Punjab Horticulture Nursery Bill-2021’.
