Two senior doctors from the Aravind Eye Care System, Dr Haripriya Aravind and Dr R. Venkatesh, have been selected for the 2026 Chang-Crandall Humanitarian Award for their work in reducing cataract blindness. The honour will be presented at the ASCRS Foundation conference in Washington DC. The $100,000 award grant will be donated to support Aravind’s non-profit eye care initiatives. Their work highlights India’s high-volume, low-cost surgical model that expands access to affordable vision care.
