  • Public Broadcasting Day is celebrated every year on 12 November in the country.
  • The day is celebrated to commemorate the first and only visit of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi to the studios of All India Radio, Delhi in 1947.
  • On November 12, 1947, Mahatma Gandhi addressed the displaced people temporarily settled in Kurukshetra, Haryana after partition.
  • In the year 2001, this day was officially declared as Public Service Broadcasting Day.
  • Prasar Bharati is entrusted with the responsibility of public service broadcasting, deepening democratic traditions and providing opportunities to all diverse communities and cultures.
