Professor R. Arthur James, Head of the Department of Marine Sciences at Bharathidasan University (BDU), has been awarded the prestigious Tamil Nadu Scientist Award (TANSA) 2022 in the field of Environmental Science by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology. The award carries a cash prize of ₹50,000 and a citation. According to a BDU press release, Professor James has made significant contributions to marine science research and the promotion of sustainable environmental practices. His work is recognized not only for its academic importance but also for its social relevance, providing guidance for policies and practices to address environmental challenges. The TANSA award is conferred annually to scientists who demonstrate exceptional research and innovation in science and technology, promoting scientific excellence and inspiring young researchers.
