  • On 10 August 2024, President Droupadi Murmu was awarded the Grand Collar of Order of Timor Leste, the highest civilian honor of Timor Leste, by President Jose Ramos Horta in Dili.
  • President Murmu’s visit to Timor Leste marked the first time an Indian President has visited the country, as part of a three-nation tour that included Fiji and New Zealand from 5 to 10 August 2024.
  • During her visit, three MoUs were signed between India and Timor Leste: cooperation between Prasar Bharati and Radio Televisaun Timor Leste, no visa requirements for official and diplomatic passport holders, and enhanced cultural exchange programs.
