  • Following the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Cabinet, President Droupadi Murmu dissolved the 17th Lok Sabha. Prime Minister Modi subsequently tendered his resignation, which was accepted by President Murmu.
  • In the 543-member Lok Sabha, the NDA holds a comfortable majority with the BJP securing 240 seats. Other parties include the Congress with 99 seats, the Samajwadi Party with 37 seats, and the Trinamool Congress with 29 seats.
