Poet and activist Maya Angelou has become the first Black woman to appear on the US quarter, in a new version of the coin unveiled by the US Mint.
Angelou, a poet, and activist was the first black woman to write and perform a poem at a presidential inauguration.
In 2010, she was given a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest US civilian award by President Barack Obama.
Maya Angelou was an essayist and poet who worked with civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.
