  • France has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Paris as a guest at the annual Bastille Day parade in July.
  • It is a French military parade that has been held on the morning of 14 July each year in Paris since 1880.
  • This would be the first time in over a decade that an Indian Prime Minister will attend the annual military parade, since Manmohan Singh was invited as the Bastille Day parade guest in 2009.
  • It is also one of the oldest regular military parades in the world.
  • The fall of the Bastille on July 14, 1789 is widely regarded as the beginning of the French Revolution.
  • This day is marked as the National Day of France.
