On June 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University near the ancient ruins in Rajgir, Bihar, highlighting its significance as a symbol of India's academic heritage and the enduring nature of knowledge.
Established through the Nalanda University Act, 2010, and functioning since 2014, the new campus construction began in 2017. The inauguration event was attended by representatives from 17 participating countries, demonstrating its international importance.
PM Modi emphasized the renaissance of Nalanda University as a major centre for cultural exchange and India's historical link to sustainability. He envisioned India becoming a global hub for comprehensive skill systems and advanced, research-oriented higher education.
