Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Saryu Canal National Project, which aims to provide irrigation water to over 14 lakh hectares of land in Uttar Pradesh, benefiting 29 lakh farmers.
The project's inauguration ceremony was attended by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
The Saryu Canal National Project for irrigation in Uttar Pradesh has been completed at a cost of more than Rs 9,800 crore.
It entails connecting five rivers – Ghaghara, Saryu, Rapti, Banganga, and Rohini – to ensure optimal use of the region's water resources.
