On the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a 103-minute address from the Red Fort, marking the longest-ever Independence Day speech by any Indian Prime Minister. With this, he surpassed his own record of 98 minutes in 2024, and earlier 96 minutes in 2016. His shortest Independence Day speech remains the 56-minute address in 2017. This year’s speech included wide-ranging references to governance, economy, and India’s global aspirations.
