At the ASEAN-India Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that 2026 will be celebrated as the “ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation.” The initiative aims to boost collaboration in maritime security, disaster relief, port connectivity, blue economy, and sustainable fisheries. It also strengthens India’s Act East Policy and its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN, reaffirming commitment to an open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
