  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that PM MITRA mega textile parks would be set up in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
  • He remarked that the PM MITRA mega textile parks will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for the textiles sector, attracts investment of crores and create lakhs of jobs.
  • Investments to the tune of about Rs 1,536 crore have been made so far in the textiles industry under the Production-Linked Incentive, said the Ministry of Textiles.
  • For the textile industry, the government has launched the scheme with an approved financial outlay of Rs10,683 crore for textiles to achieve size and scale and to become competitive.
