  • According to the recent announcement, PM-Kisan Bhai Yojana will be started.
  • The full name of PM-Kisan Bhai is PM-Kisan Storage Incentive Scheme.
  • As soon as this scheme is launched, farmers can store their crops for at least three months after harvesting.
  • During this period, as soon as they get good rates in the market, they will be able to sell their produce.
  • At the same time, in the present system, the farmer is forced to sell the crop immediately after harvesting it.
  • After purchasing from farmers, traders stock the produce and sell it at a huge price after two to three months in the off-season, which also increases inflation.
  • Small and marginal farmers are not able to stock their produce in warehouses.
  • Also, do not wait for a long time to get better prices for the produce.
  • Immediately after harvesting, traders buy the produce from most of the small farmers at throwaway prices.
  • In such a situation, farmers do not get good profit compared to the cost.
  • Small and marginal farmers will be given subsidy at the rate of Rs 4 per quintal every month to stock the crop in the warehouse.
  • This scheme will be started on experimental basis in 7 states.
  • These 7 states are – Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
