The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has selected Bengaluru-based PixxelSpace India-led consortium to develop India’s first indigenous commercial earth observation (EO) satellite constellation under a public-private partnership model. For the first time, a private consortium will invest over ₹1,200 crore in the next five years to launch a constellation of 12 cutting-edge EO satellites equipped with panchromatic, multispectral, hyperspectral, and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensors. The consortium includes PixxelSpace India, Piersight Space, Satsure Analytics India, and Dhruva Space. The selection was made after a competitive bidding process involving two other consortia.
