PhonePe has introduced an AI-powered natural language search feature built on Microsoft Foundry, enabling users to make payments, recharges and track transactions through simple voice or text commands. Announced on 23 February 2026, the feature shifts from menu-based navigation to intent-driven, conversational interactions.
The tool allows commands like “Pay Hemanth 20 rupees” or “Recharge FASTag,” automatically directing users to the relevant section. It uses a hybrid AI model (on-device and cloud inferencing) with a privacy-first architecture, ensuring that personal and transactional data remains secure within the ecosystem.
With over 65 crore registered users and 4.7 crore merchant outlets, the phased rollout is expected to significantly enhance convenience, personalization and efficiency in digital payments across India.
